Local Places for Nature

Local Places for Nature is run by Keep Wales Tidy and helps groups and organisations to create community gardens for people and nature.

About the project

We are working with Keep Wales Tidy to support the creation and sustainability of community gardens in Wales. The project distributes Welsh Government-funded packages to community groups, associations, schools and town/community councils. Local Paces for Nature packages enable groups to transform unloved areas for nature, or for community groups to grow fruit and veg.

We sit on the biweekly assessment panels and attend the Food Growing Development Package successful applicant site visits across Wales (by staff and fieldworkers), producing a site report within two weeks of a site visit.

The initiative is part of a wider Welsh Government Local Places for Nature programme committed to creating, restoring and enhancing nature 'on the doorstep' in Wales.
