The Community Roots allotment project offers supported volunteering opportunities to adults living within Southampton City who are recovering from mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety and/or alcohol/ substance misuse issues. The allotment is a calm, peaceful place to escape the distractions of everyday life, yet just a short distance from Southampton City Centre. The project enables participants to:
- Get some fresh air and exercise
- Learn new skills and develop existing skills
- Meet new people
- Improve self-esteem and confidence
- Work as a team
- Grow and eat fresh produce
