The Ark aims to provide opportunities for people to discover the fun, friendship, and health benefits that come from engaging in gardening, craft, flower arranging, woodwork, and many other activities. Originally started as a small gardening project the work was highly valued and grew. Situated on a 3-acre farmland site facilities include 8 polytunnels, a glasshouse, a potting shed, an office, a volunteer's cabin, a workshop for woodworking, a craft room, and a small shop. Our main activities allow for the provision of 4 part-time staff as well as over 12 lead volunteer roles.

The produce including vegetables, garden plants, and crafts are available for the public to purchase in our on-site shop. All of our produce is grown following organic principles, the volunteers are mostly people who are socially isolated, have mental health issues, or have some degree of disability and all the money that we make is re-invested in helping more people in need.

The charity offers a diverse range of programs for individuals and groups. Around 60 people participate every week. It also runs regular family events such as Open Saturdays, and Community days with up to 100 people attending. Through these programs, we focus on helping people learn new skills and training as well as helping them improve their mental health and wellbeing. We often partner with other local charities to run events for our community.
