WETRA Community Garden aims to provide local residents of the estate and surrounding area with fun activities and access to a variety of growing spaces. We focus on Arts, Craft, Gardening and Music within a space that has allotment beds, community growing space, an orchard, herb garden, recycled greenhouse and wildlife friendly areas. We also provide a space for local organisations to run community classes and have worked closely with Cordwainers Grow, Good Gym, HMDT and AOL in the past year.
Classes that have been offered in the past are herbal remedies, natural dyeing, cooking, herb drying and preserving, gardening and growing to cook. WETRA also works closely with local voluntary groups such as the Cardinal Pole band and Hackney Deaf Children's Society to run Arts & Craft, and music events.
WETRA Community Garden was re developed last year with the help of a Pocket Park Grant and has outside space dedicated to young children and sculpture. This year we are working on a Seeds & Sensors project with Queen Marys University, offering a monthly garden club for children and families, Chelsea Fringe event and some more garden based community classes.
