The Eco-Garden at Manor Junior School will be a great way of getting children out of the classroom to learn first-hand the importance of the environment, recycling and being 'green'. The garden will provide a wealth of opportunities for kids to get their hands dirty while learning lessons in many different subject area, such as growing their own foods. The garden will also increase awareness of environmental issues and develop an understanding of each child's carbon footprint.
Our Eco Garden will include a forest trail, bird watching area, allotment for growing vegetables, a mud kitchen and a natural interactive play area. The children will also drive the development of our green space and wooded area. They will be involved in the design of the gardens allowing them to use skills in maths and art. This will develop a sense of pride and a sense of shared ownership of the natural environment around them.
The Eco-Garden will also a great way to encourage children to become more active in outdoor activities and respect the natural world around them. We will use the space to raise awareness of important issues such as recycling as well as growing your own food and we will teach children gardening skills.
