Good Shepherd Centre (GSC) is Scotland’s sector leading secure & supported facility for vulnerable young people (YP). Our purpose is to provide a positive, life changing experience for YP through individual care, education and skills development. Each YP accommodated within the centre is in need of intensive and/or secure care.
GSC has established a horticultural garden on site. The garden is proving to be very influential in changing behaviours and attitudes of the vulnerable young people we work with (see:
https://schoolgardening.rhs.org.uk/Competitions/school-gardeners-of-the-year/School-Gardener-of-the-Year-2017-Results/David-Nicol for quotes for the impact on our YP).
The garden has improved health and well-being - produce grown is used in the centre and shared amongst staff.
