Our Community Gardens grow food, build communities and educate people.
We have two therapeutic Community Gardens that we run in partnership with NHS Lothian - one at the Royal Edinburgh Community Hospital and one at Midlothian Community Hospital. Both gardens are open three days a week and anyone can volunteer there on a drop-in basis.
At the Community Gardens we focus on welcoming people experiencing mental or physical health problems, disadvantage, isolation or poverty. The gardens offer people fantastic opportunities to grow food, socialise and become more active. The garden teams also run regular events, workshops and courses.
From the gardens we deliver an extensive programme of activities in the garden and on wards at both hospitals, as well as at the Astley Ainslie Hospital, and are involved in consulting on development of outdoor ward spaces and helping to make improvements.
Cyrenians also supervise the development and maintenance of the Walled Garden in Dollar Park, Falkirk; in partnership with Falkirk Council’s Criminal Justice services.
