***** Green Care Quality Mark Awarded since April 2023 *****
This care farm was opened in 2003 and since then has established itself as a care farm and a day centre for adults with learning difficulties, mental health issues, brain injury or physical disabilities. Alongside our farming activities such as pig and sheep breeding we also have a very well equipped and large wood workshop, craft workshops and cookery room. We want to enable our service users to pursue the normality of life, the work habit, achieving a task, and be successful on a personal level, pushing their own boundaries of confidence and competence. We want people to enjoy working alongside us, to have a sense of fun and to take away knowledge that is relevant to their own ability. Service users work individually or in small groups. We employ a person centred approach to all our service users and offer a great deal of choice. There is great emphasis on helping people learn how to behave in a social environment, learning to work with others and be part of a group. We put on lots of activities outside of the normal working day, with theatre trips, parties, barbecues and camping on offer.
