Locatrd just outside Kendal, Growing Well is a farm-based mental health charity and horticultural training centre offering a supportive environment where people recovering from mental health issues can get involved in all aspects of our organic growing business by taking up a volunteering work placement on a regular weekly basis. Opportunities are open to local people living within commuting distance of the farm so people come from as far as Barrow, Penrith and Lancaster as well as much more locally. Most people volunteer on the field, and there are also opportunities to help with our catering activities - we provide lunch on site and use surplus produce for pickling and preserving.
