The Schools Growing Club programme will encourage pupils and teachers in Mid and East Antrim to make use of their outdoor space and grow their own fruit and vegetables. We will continue this programme with 3 schools in 2020 after piloting it in 2019.
Three schools will receive six practical sessions on site at their school to get them growing, as well as a Schools Growing Club Starter Kit Bag including tools, seeds and learning resources.
This is a great opportunity for schools to promote healthier eating and drinking as well as a deeper understanding of sustainable food issues. Pupils and teachers will be inspired to work together in their outside space, learn gardening skills for life and learn to take care of their local environment. We would hope to see schools taking part benefiting through healthier and happier children spending more of their time outside.
