Community Grow is one of the projects of the recently formed charity (previously a social enterprise, a limited company) called Community Transform, a community capacity-building organisation based on asset-based community development principles and social transformation. It operates in socially and economically deprived communities of Buckinghamshire. An integrated project that uses gardening as a tool to deliver on a wide range of strategic wellbeing priorities that support the Bucks County Council’s Strategic Plan and Bucks Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. Our vision is to establish a network of supported local Community Grow projects across the county, linking with other local organisations and working primarily in areas of deprivation to:
• promote wellbeing, healthy lifestyles and choices
• create community cohesion, resilience and improved ‘sense of place’
• drive long-term positive social change
The Community Grow Project has operated in High Wycombe since 2015. More recently, we have started working in Aylesbury on a new site in the residential area of Quarrendon, where the charity has worked in partnership with Aylesbury Garden Town and St Peter’s Church as part of an evolving community hub.
