Bronte Close Community Garden is a community project/initiative to grow fruit and vegetables on public grassland in the cul-de-sac with support from the residents.
The aim of the project, aside from growing fresh fruit and vegetables based on organic no dig/permaculture methods (specifically hugelkultur’s), is to grow the community and share education on the benefits of growing your own food and sustainable organic farming and agriculture.
In the longer term, the garden will host open days, garden parties and events for fund raising and to raise awareness on the project and it’s many benefits, with the bigger goal of propagating the work further around the town and inspiring others to grow fruit and vegetables in available open and public spaces.
Social prescribing is also a major goal of the project providing opportunities for addicts in recovery to get involved in a community project, this already has the support in principle of a local Warwickshire drug and alcohol rehabilitation service, Change Grow Live.
