We are a volunteer led community organisation( running since 2014) working towards supporting the lives of people around us through community gardening, conservation, outdoor recreational activities, nature themed arts and craft activities in Park Hill Park, central Croydon. As well as running our regular community gardening activities (currently suspended due to COVID), we organise community events to promote our activities in the park. Our flagship project is the community gardening within the Walled Garden located in the public park. We were granted in 2019 full permission to managed the Walled Garden as part of an agreement with Croydon Council, so that we could expand our activities. We crowdfunded to raise funds to 'Transform the Walled Garden' by creating accessible pathways and a meeting space so that we could be more inclusive. We are looking at expanding into environmental education, outdoor learning and social and therapeutic horticulture, with the support of our volunteers, with the aim to support the community more and become an essential outdoor wellbeing hub. We have already been granted a small capital grant to run a therapeutic garden project under the social prescription model and we are collaborating with other groups involved in the performance and creative arts who will be able to use our meeting space for their activities. This will help us to extend our reach.
