The Waverley Project was set up in 2007. It offers 3.5 acres of arable land in Hartlepool for the cultivation of fruit and vegetables. The Project is aimed at enhancing the involvement of and opportunities for the local community.
The site offers a venue for volunteering, therapeutic support and employment and training and education. The project currently incorporates three elements:

• Wellbeing Services: The project provides a safe environment whereby local individuals can volunteer and be involved in horticulture to support their health and wellbeing, life skills, aspirations and to prevent social isolation.

• Employment and Training Services: The site provides volunteering placements and high quality training for individuals to develop relevant employability skills to assist them to progress into Sustained Employment.

• Voluntary and Commercial Services: The project provides commercial opportunities for local community health organisations, voluntary organisations and groups to use the Waverley Site which is non-profit based and all income generated was used to expand the services provided by the Project.

Exciting new developments and capital investment in the site is currently underway to maximise the potential of the site for benefit of the local community.
