The West Edge is a regenerative forest garden, where a former Sitka Spruce plantation, with Rhododendron understory, is being transformed into an abundant, healthy and diverse, deeply organic space for care and repair, of people and Earth. Soil-building, food production and natural health are key.
Under the guidance of its owner/caretaker the West Edge community has gently grown, with 3 full-time residents living off-grid and hosting skill-shares, social events, work experience, trainings, school visits and individuals. The outside kitchen is always prepared for welcoming cuppas, the Earth Oven (hand built by Ullapool High School pupils) ready for pizza sessions and the High Yurt cosy for sheltered gatherings.
A working horse, chickens, ducks, dogs, a cat and local wildlife are also part of this forest family, with their care and understanding being core. Quirky accommodation is available for those who wish to experience this light-living way.
