We are a social enterprise and out first project we intend to deliver is an 'Urban composting scheme' where we take suitable food waste from local businesses and compost in out specially designed and manufactured 'compost planters' strategically placed in flower beds across town/city parks between the months of October - March. We then use the same planters to provide a plant/flower display for the community to enjoy between the months of April - August all whilst the composting process is still happening (trench composting). We then release and spread the enriched composted soil into the flower bed and start the process again the following year. Our aim here is to improve soil quality, biodiversity and encourage more nature into urban areas.
In order to become a sustainable company the second part of our business is to sell the compost planters direct to consumers to encourage them to follow the same principals and take responsibility of their own food waste and encourage more composting at home. The USP being that the end product is a attractive flower/plant display to enjoy over the summer months rather than 'compost in a compost bin'.
Our future aim is to to work with businesses (particularly restaurants and supermarkets) to help them recycle their food waste smarter and use it where their is demand to improve soil quality connecting them with with farmers and land owners to rewild their land/rewild the soil to improve yields and biodiversity.
