The Hub at Alexandra Park is one of Oldhams 'Growing Hubs’ developed around the borough in collaboration with local communities and community groups to provide community growing space for fruit and vegetables. These spaces also give excellent education opportunities around food growing and sustainability.

The concept started with the development of The Hub at Alexandra Park as a community food growing training and demonstration site. Recently The Hub has undergone a transition to engage volunteers growing food for emergency food provision.

The purpose of The Hub at Alexandra Park:
• to offer a learning experience
• to increase knowledge around growing food
• to provide a meaningful activity in a safe outdoor setting to benefit mental wellbeing
• to enable volunteers to benefit from a share of the produce grown.
• to be accessible to residents living within the borough of Oldham
• to raise awareness of the benefits of food growing in relation to health and wellbeing
