Nottingham Green Guardians is Nottingham City Council's greenspace volunteering programme, launched in August 2021, thus mid-way through our second year. Our team is small, consisting of the Volunteer co-ordinator and 2 park rangers. We run conservation, tree and hedge planting, community events and much more, including a community garden on Forest Recreation Ground, which we started January 2022, after the garden had been seldom used for a long time. We believe the garden is in a fantastic location in the city, and hugely beneficial to local people who may not have their own garden or would like to start working in their garden, but unsure where to begin. We also have tried to involve local schools where possible, as well green social prescribing.
