This is a new project starting from scratch in 2023.
Vision: We will create a space in which individuals and groups can participate in projects focused on sustainable healthy food production and other nature-based activities beneficial to the local community and to the planet.
Ethos: We will apply permaculture principles to guide all activities carried out on the site. We will respect and reflect the needs and desires of local communities in an inclusive way, while focusing on nature-friendly activities aimed at promoting health and well-being in an outdoor environment.
Approach: The Badgers Food Forest project will act as a host and facilitator for a range of on-site activities, based on, but not limited to, the priorities set out above. We will be open to welcoming groups and individuals wishing to propose new activities that work within our ethos, as well as being inclusive to people wishing to get involved in on-going tasks.
Core activity areas:
1) Fruit and vegetable production, including orchard areas
2) Tree planting and management, including coppicing
3) Water and renewable energy harvesting
4) Bee keeping
5) Wildlife conservation, including biodiversity enhancement
6) Education/training/skill sharing, art, drama and music making
7) Nature based recreation and therapy
Areas will be allocated on a case-by case basis to groups/ individuals wishing to carry out these and other compatible activities
