Since 2022, Transition Telford has been promoting and supporting the community gardens and orchards we have in Telford. These spaces are little oases of green, open to the public, growing food, providing eco-systems for birds and insects, off setting carbon and offering opportunities for exercise.

We're delighted that Janine Potter of Shropshire Good Food Partnership has been appointed as Grow Local co-ordinator for Telford, and hopes to map community gardens and orchards here in Telford in 2023.

We hold monthly gardening volunteer days to work on one of our most successful projects, a small community garden in Leegomery. The success included being filmed at, Leegomery Community Garden, as part of Shropshire Wildlife Trusts Nextdoor Nature Project.
The Garden remains one of our key active and evolving projects.

We an annual Seed Swap in February where people can either swap seeds or make a ‘pay as you feel donation’ for seeds & seed potatoes.

Running on the same format, we hold a plant sale in May. One of our largest & most popular events of the year, this allows individuals and groups to take away stocks of herbs, veg, & flowers for very little cost.

In September our third annual event is Harvest Local celebrating surplus produce and selling jams, chutneys and giving away/ swapping surplus to residents and groups in the wider community.
Each year we welcome regular & new faces to these events.

We provide support, advice, funding to assist with growing food locally, living a more sustainable lifestyle, getting in touch with nature.
Included within our members is a Seed Guardian for Garden Organic and 2 or 3 are Master Composters.
Within our small group we have a vast range of skills & knowledge.

As a charity, Transition Telford is often invited to other local events and work with other organisations such as Telford Repair Cafe, Climate Action Hub Telford, local schools, & other community groups

.

Transition Telford is one element of an international movement of communities coming together to reimagine and rebuild our world.
