We are a small family farm in West Sussex, growing lavender as well as arable crops. Alongside family open days in summer, we currently provide educational visits for local primary school children where we offer a farm tour, exploring the field to fork journey, before visiting the lavender itself to observe and learn about pollinators, about growing and using lavender and about caring for the environment and wildlife on the farm. The lavender field is a wonderfully calm and free space for children to enjoy and we passionately believe that experiencing the great outdoors and our wonderful natural landscape is incredibly powerful for developing confidence and wellbeing, as well as learning. For students with additional needs, farm visits here can be tailored to enhance their curriculum while those with a high level of need can enjoy being in the outdoors with the unique sensory experience of a buzzing, beautiful and fragrant lavender crop. The mental, physical and social health benefits of visiting our lavender farm are bountiful and we would like to share this holistic opportunity with more young people in the future.
We also offer a small range of wellbeing experiences for adults and these have included charity mindfulness sessions for those from the NHS, the refugee community and charitable groups. The special environment here has great power to soothe and calm the senses and wellbeing provision is beautifully enhanced by the chance to really connect with nature.
