More and more of the land is being farmed intensively, to meet the needs of a growing population, and often there is little space to take into account the environmental and biodiversity impacts that this has. Earth Trust wants to farm differently. Thanks to funding from DEFRA we are able to offer local schools the chance to take time out of the classroom to spend a day with us and explore what’s involved in a ‘regenerative’ farming approach.
Your class will start their visit with a tour of Earth Trust Farm where they will learn about beetle banks, hedgerow habitats and skylark patches as a way to farm more sensitively, growing food whilst still making space for wildlife. Plus there are a range of options available including meeting our shepherd Fred’s rare sheep breeds or visiting the Earth Trust Kitchen Garden. Whatever activities you choose, your pupils will leave Earth Trust feeling more connected to nature and with an understanding of a better way to farm.
