We are a volunteer led community garden in the heart of Newquay for people to get together and connect with each other and with nature. Our aim is to co-create a welcoming space that celebrates the natural environment and encourages wildlife. By holding regular gardening and social events, we have a positive impact on the physical and mental wellbeing of our community.
A group of volunteers have been working on Crantock Street Community Garden for over 5 years, making it a more inviting and comfortable place for local residents and visitors to use.
There are few green spaces used by the community in the local vicinity and we aim to create a more welcoming space, that celebrates the natural environment and encourages wildlife and biodiversity.
The objective is to create a more useable, safer space with more greenery, less health and safety hazards and less labour-intensive space to manage for the community.
The outcome will be a completely redeveloped space which will be used by many people in the community, community groups and visitors alike. It will also increase access for elderly people, wheelchairs and buggies therefore making it a more inviting space used by a wider cross section of the community.
The redevelopment of the space will also hopefully alleviate the potential for any future development on the site.
Further information can be provided on the need for this project and the impact that the project will have for our local community.
