Havergardd - Haverfordwest Community Garden is located on the site of a former gas storage tank so it is a no dig site. It provides a nature based, community led venue for local residents to come together, learn, spend time in nature and be actively engaged in their community. It supports biodiversity and is a venue for education, e.g.for horticulture courses, heritage skills (scything, green woodworking) nature based skills (wildflower meadow management, citizen science, nature friendly gardening; community events such as Fun Days, seasonal festivals, Children's festival; it provides a space for growing local food (we have a large polytunnel and 20 raised beds. it also has a shed, composting toilet, a large pond, a wildflower meadow and meadow strips along the boundaries, trees including fruit trees, shrubs, insect hotels, bird boxes, trestle tables and benches, a chatty bench, several large wooden slatted compost bins and 6 IBCs for water storage. Havergardd is currently unincorporated and has a group of 7 trustees who meet regularly. 2024 was the first year that the garden opened for the public. We have been successful in obtaining several small grants.
