Our new community garden is on the verges of Vauxhall Health Centre in Liverpool (started May 2024). This is a deprived area with very limited green space and no local food growing. Dr Green now runs a weekly gardening session, focusing on patients and community members learning how to grow food and flowers, and sharing the produce. Social prescribers use the space to conduct consultations, and the benefits for staff at lunchtime are significant too. We also have birdsong indoors and are building our collection of potted plants and microgreen propagators. The garden is always open for the community. We are trying to lead in the city to encourage other health centres to do the same.
