Acorn Farm project Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland cityscape

We are delivering events and training for The Acorn Farm project, a £6.5 million green infrastructure partnership project in Northern Ireland.

The project is helping 260 families to grow their own fruit and veg with mentors showing people the basics of food production at home. The wider strategic aim of the project is to build a local food movement that helps to inform and change the food system. It will feature a new urban growing space in St Columb’s Park in Derry/Londonderry.

The Acorn Farm project is led by The Community Foundation Northern Ireland, The Conservation Volunteers, the local authority Derry City and Strabane District Council and University College Cork. Social Farms & Gardens is an associate partner in the project.

About the project

Our contribution to the partnership project involves engaging growing groups to work and learn together. We will be running a series of events in community gardens and allotments and delivering training.
