GreenME is a partnership project to advance green care in Europe and improve mental health equity. Green care uses the connection between nature and health to help people in a structured and meaningful way.
About the project
GreenME is an EU-funded Horizon project in partnership with Salford University, Kent University and Kent MIND in the UK. The project aims to identify ways in which effective nature-based therapy and a broader green care framework can be scaled-up to improve adult mental health and wellbeing equity while contributing to multiple socio-ecological co-benefits.
Green care is a scale that can include elements of the following:
- Nature-in-everyday-life e.g. the existence of green and blue infrastructure for viewing and walks
- Nature-based health promotion, the promotion of active interaction with nature such as gardening and conservation
- Nature-based therapy - the provision of treatment for individual patients
Our role in the GreenME project is to gather case studies to provide evidence of Green Care interventions. Social Farms & Gardens member Clynfyw Care Farm will be providing an in-depth case study, along with Incredible Education in Salford.
