Working with community sites in Powys to support local people to grow, be active, healthy and learn new skills.
About the project
Tyfu Powys provided support for existing and new community growing organisations across Powys throughout 2024. We continue to work with groups in Powys following the Tyfu Powys project funding finishing in December 2024. Please join our Facebook group to keep up to date with activities and happenings. If you are a community growing group looking for support, or thinking about starting one, in Powys please contact [email protected]. We are, as of January 2025, putting together an impact report. We will share highlights from this when completed and will be continuing to search for funds to further support community growing groups in Powys.
Tyfu Powys Events
We held two very successful Gatherings with growing groups and support organisations in November 2024. If you attended, please share your thoughts on these on our Facebook group page. Visit our events page to see if there's any future events to join in with.
How we supported groups in 2024:
- A supportive Powys community with our Facebook group (which you can still join) and Powys community growing in-person gatherings.
- 1:1 mentor support for community growing projects. Groups particularly requested support around orchards.
- Free orchard training with our friends at the Orchard Project. Find recorded online sessions on our YouTube.
- Funding for themed events (Eat Well / People & Planet) and Have a Grow days, supporting community growing sites to open up to new visitors and volunteers.
- Funds for bespoke 'Development Support'
- Funds for capital equipment for site infrastructure.
