Kyle & Lochalsh Community Trust covers a scattered rural population of 2,600 people in Lochalsh. Its area of benefit covers 7 community council areas. The trust’s articles state that its main purpose is rural regeneration based on sustainable development in areas of social and economic deprivation in the community. The trust owns 60 acres of land which it manages for the community. It also owns public toilets and laundrette and pontoons in Kyle. We conducted a large community consultation in 2021, with 600 responses and have just written a Community Action Plan. We are now delivering on our community’s priorities: we sourced funding for an electric minibus and a coordinator to improve community transport; we set up a Community Fridge and are moving to new premises allowing us to also open a reuse shop. We have a Community Grower, are setting up a community garden and encouraging local food growing.

Facilities: Volunteering, Picnic area, Community recycling/composting, Play area, Holiday activities, Wildlife area, Sustainable/Green building on site
