We provide 1:1 equine assisted learning (EAL), with an EAQ level 4 advanced facilitator, in a natural outdoor experiential environment. EAL is nature inclusive and accepts people for who they are through a non-judgemental and person-centered approach to learning. We have horses and sheep and are located in an area of outstanding beauty.
We are an EAQ (Education and Qualifications Centre (www.eaqapproved.com), this means we have met the required quality standards including safeguarding, risk assessment, staff training and animal welfare. We are also on the Human Equine Interaction Register (HEIR) and an approved provider of alternative provision with Dorset Council.
Notton EAL specialises in supporting those who find it challenging to access traditional educational settings. We support children who may not be in full time education; have been excluded from school; those who benefit from a different learning approach; need different levels of support or have complex diagnosis including learning difficulties; social, emotional and behavioural needs; ASC including PDA and school refusal. EAL builds self-esteem, self-confidence and develops decision making skills. We contribute to preparing young people for adulthood as they learn important life skills such as maintaining boundaries, managing anxiety and anger, controlling their energy and negative thoughts.
